For the Syrup:
- 1 cup sugar π¬
- 1 cup water π§
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder (Elaichi) πΏ
- A few saffron strands (optional) πΎ
Instructions:
1 . Prepare the Syrup:
- In a pan, combine sugar and water. Heat until the sugar dissolves completely. π‘οΈ
- Add cardamom powder and saffron strands (if using). Set aside to cool. π―
2 . Make the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking soda. Mix well. π₯
- Add melted ghee and milk gradually, kneading gently to form a smooth dough. It should be soft and slightly sticky. π
3 . Shape the Balls:
- Grease your hands with a little ghee. Take a small portion of dough and roll it between your palms to form smooth, round balls. Aim for a size that will expand during frying. π°
4 . Fry the Balls:
- Heat oil in a deep pan over low heat. Test with a small piece of dough; it should rise slowly. π‘οΈ
- Fry the balls in batches, gently stirring them to ensure even cooking. They should turn golden brown. π€
5 . Soak in Syrup:
- Remove the fried balls with a slotted spoon and immediately immerse them in the warm syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes. π―
