Ingredients:
- 2 cups Mawa (Khoya) π§
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar π
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder πΏ
- A few saffron strands (optional) πΌ
- 1 tbsp ghee π§
- Chopped nuts for garnish (pistachios, almonds) π°
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mawa: Crumble the mawa (khoya) in a non-stick pan. Heat it on low flame, stirring continuously to avoid burning, for about 5-7 minutes. The mawa should soften and become slightly gooey. π§βπ³
- Add Sugar: Once the mawa is soft, add powdered sugar. Mix well and continue to cook on low flame. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan. π―
- Flavor It: Add cardamom powder and saffron strands (if using) to the mixture. Stir well to combine the flavors evenly. πΌ
- Shape the Pedas: Allow the mixture to cool slightly. Grease your hands with a little ghee and take small portions of the mixture. Roll them into smooth balls and flatten them slightly to give the traditional peda shape. π
