Ingredients:
For the Filling:
- 2 large potatoes π₯ (boiled and mashed)
- 1 tbsp oil π’οΈ
- 1 tsp mustard seeds π°
- 1 tsp cumin seeds π±
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder π
- 1 tsp red chili powder πΆοΈ
- 1 tsp coriander powder πΏ
- 1/2 tsp garam masala π§
- 1 tbsp tamarind chutney π―
- 1 tbsp date chutney (optional) π΄
- Salt to taste π§
For Assembling:
- 6-8 pav (Indian bread rolls) π
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions π§
- 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut π₯₯
- 1/4 cup roasted peanuts, crushed π₯
- 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds π
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped πΏ
- Green chutney (optional) πΆοΈ
- Tamarind chutney (optional) π―
Instructions:
1 . Prepare the Filling:
- Heat oil in a pan π₯. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When they splutter, add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala.
- Stir for a few seconds, then add the mashed potatoes. Mix well.
- Add tamarind chutney, date chutney (if using), and salt. Stir and cook for a couple of minutes. Remove from heat.
2 . Assemble the Dabeli:
- Slice the pav horizontally but not all the way through.
- Lightly toast the pav in a pan with a bit of butter or ghee until golden brown.
- Spread the potato filling on the bottom half of each pav.
- Top with onions, coconut, crushed peanuts, pomegranate seeds, and coriander leaves.
- Drizzle with green chutney and tamarind chutney if you like.
- Close the pav and serve immediately. π
